Pope Benedict XVI message(June 2nd)

EUCHARIST UNITES, STRENGTHENS
Rome- The Eucharist has the power to unite people, strengthen them and remind them that only God is worthy of worship, said Pope Benedict XVI at a Mass marking the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.
The May 22 Mass at Rome’s Basilica of St. John Lateran was followed by a traditional Corpus Christi procession through the streets of Rome to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for Eucharistic adoration and Benediction.
The Pope rode in a canopied flatbed truck to St. Mary’s, kneeling in front of a monstrance with the Eucharist. Thousands of priests, seminarians, religious, altar servers, members of Catholic sodalities and the faithful accompanied the Pope on foot.
In his homily at the Mass, the Pope said the rites and rituals of the feast day explain what the feast is about: “First, we are gathered around the altar of the Lord to be together in his presence; second, there will be the procession, which is walking with the Lord; and finally, all the faithful will kneel before the Eucharist, honouring Jesus Christ wqho gave his life for the salvation of all.
Pope Benedict said the celebration of the Mass, gathering everyone around the same altar, is a reminder that all the faithful have been united into the body of Christ despite all their differences.
Unity is “the truth and the strengthen of the Christian revolution”, he said. Around the Eucharist “people diverse on account of age, sex, social condition (and) political ideology” gather and become one, he said.
Pope Benedict said Catholics must always be vigilant to ensure that at every celebration of the Eucharist all Catholics are welcome, no matter their “differences of nationality, profession, social class or political ideas”.
By walking in procession and following Jesus present in the Eucharist, he said Catholics remind themselves that “the Lord Jesus liberates us from our paralysis, he makes us get up and proceed, he helps us take a step forward then another”.
Christ in the Eucharist gives people strengthen when they are feeling battered or uncomfortable, he said.
“The Eucharist is the sacrament of God, who does not leave us alone in our journey, but stands at our side and shows us the way, “the Pope said.
Finally, he said, keeling in adoration before the Eucharist “ is the most valid and radical remedy against the idolatries of yesterday and today. Keeling before the Eucharist is a profession of freedom: One who bows to Jesus cannot and must not prostrate himself before any earthly power, no matter how strong.
“To adore the body of Christ means to believe that there, in that piece of bread, there really is Christ who gives meaning; to our lives, to the immense universe as well as to the smallest creature and to all of human history as well as to the briefest existence, “ the Pope said.

Useful tips on filling petrol in cars/bikes

I don't know what you guys are paying for petrol.... but here in Durban
we are also paying higher, up to R7.35 per litre. But my line of work is
in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more
of your money's worth for every litre.

Here at the Marian Hill Pipeline where I work in Durban , we deliver
about 4 million litres in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.
One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and petrol, LRP and
Unleaded. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of
16,800,000 litres.

Tips :

1. Only buy or fill up your car or bakkie in the early morning when the
ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations
have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the
more dense the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in
the afternoon or in the evening....your litre is not exactly a litre. In
the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the
petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays
an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for
this business. But the service stations do not have temperature
compensation at the pumps.

2. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a
fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)
stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low
speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created while you are
pumping.. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping
on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes
vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground
storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

3. One of the most important tips is to fill up when your tank is HALF
FULL. The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank the
less air occupying its empty space. petrol evaporates faster than you
can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof.
This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the
atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is
temperature compensated so that every litre is actually the exact
amount.

4. Another reminder, if there is a fuel truck pumping into the storage
tanks when you stop to buy, DO NOT fill up--most likely the
petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and
you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

Virapandianpatnam

Virapandianpatnam, a tiny village situated on the south west coast of India near Thiruchendur, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu is also loveably called by the locals as 'Veeriampathy' or Pattanam. People who live here were converted to Roman Catholicism by St. Francis Xavier a few hundred years ago. The village is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic. One interesting thing about the location is that it is less than 2 km from Thiruchendur, a predominantly Hindu town and about 10 km from Kayalpatnam, a predominantly Muslim town.
The focal point of the village is a Roman Catholic Church which was built in 1886. Surrounding the church is the village cemetery, a grotto for Mother Mary, the Priest's quarters, a high school and a nunnery. Sprinkled around the village are different chapels for various saints. The church has daily masses, one at 5:15am and 7:00am. Most masses are broadcast over the church speakers and most in the village can hear it from their homes. The Church recently got a face lift with new paint and pews throughout the church.
Though many of the villagers are now into various other businesses and occupations, fishing and fish related business are the main source of income among the people who currently reside in this village. There are many Patnathars (as people from Pattanam are called) all around the world working in IT companies and Non IT companies.
The nick name 'Tiny Vatican' suits very well to this village as people who live in this village are religious, peace loving and God fearing people. This village is a very good example in many ways for other growing villages in India.
The nearest airport is Madurai which is about a 4 hour drive from Pattanam. Most major cities in Tamil Nadu can be accessed via bus. There is a train station in Pattanam but it caters to only a few trains. The easiest way to access Pattanam is to take the train from Chennai to Tuticorin and either take a taxi or a bus. One other easy way is to take a bus from Chennai. There are many private luxurious buses from Chennai that can take one in relative comfort in about 15 hours.
